About

Our mission at WestCare

WestCare empowers everyone with whom we come into contact to engage in a process of healing, growth and change benefiting themselves, their families, coworkers and communities.

Uplifting the human spirit is a lofty statement for any organization to promote as their objective, especially given the challenging world we live in today. Quality health and human services for individuals, families and communities in need are a priceless resource. With over three decades of experience, WestCare has the necessary expertise to be that resource to the communities we serve in sixteen states and three U.S. territories as well as the Dominican Republic and the Republic of Palau.

Remembering John Wallace

John Wallace was our longtime editor of The Express. He passed away in March 2017. On the last day of every month, WestCare staff looked forward to receiving the monthly newsletter along with a message from John, sometimes warm and thoughtful, sometimes goofy and smile inducing, and always from the heart.

John became an advocate for WestCare and the work we do in the mid-90s when our California programs became a part of WestCare. He worked tirelessly to promote our programs and the WestCare staff who provide the services. His respect for our staff and for the people we serve was apparent in all he did.

As a broadcaster since 1969, John was the anchor for ABC30 (KFSN, Channel 30.1) and CBS47 (KGPE, Channel 47.1). He took a couple of breaks from reporting news to work as the public information officer for Mayor Alan Autry in 2008 and to do community work.

We continue The Express with the same heartfelt idea of sharing stories to bring people together. That stories can, and always will, uplift the human spirit.
